Last Minute Surprise!

In true Military fashion Nick called me around 8am yesterday saying they were done for the day and he was able to come home. So I quickly got the boys in the van and off to Sam's club to do a stock up run for Nick and Sanders (the other guy down at AT right now). I also took advantage of Old Navy's $2 tank tops. I got 5 tank tops for free with my $10 rebate off using my Gap Card I also happened to find 2 more pairs of size 2 jeans. I think I have found a new brand and style that I like.. They have these Sweetheart jeans line.. The old style I liked is no longer made they were at Steve and Barrys and all of them are closed.. Well around here atleast I am not sure if they are open else where.

So I got all our errands run and got back around 11:45am and got the boys some lunch, while I was making lunch Nick got home.. Oh what a joy it is to see your children light up with excitement. They have missed him terribly this go round. Unless you live the life you really can't explain it. Sometimes their are days that everything goes to hell in a hand basket and you all you can do is get through it. There is no relief your spouse isn't going to walk in the door and be able to help you and most the time you can't just randomly pick up the phone and get them on the line. Sometimes you are just stuck. You can't comfort your child and let them know that Daddy will be home right after work, because he won't be he will be home in sometime weeks and if they are deployed months. Not to down play just regular staying home and a parent working but there is a whole different plane for things that military wives and husbands go through. And their is a whole new plane for what the children go through. I know this also from experience. I remember being at my guardian's (Aunt Judy and Uncle Bob's) I remember the love and care I got from them but it still wasn't being with my mom. And it was hard to swallow days of missing my mom so much and then having to watch my friend Sara enjoy her mother. Or when my mom would come and visit on leave briefly. I remember the days I would spend hugging her pillow and just being able to smell her still on it. Or if I was lucky and she left a shirt behind the hours I would wear it missing her. So I know how my kids feel who desperately just want to chat Nick's ear off. Or if they don't like being told No and they Cry Dadda. Or who cry I want Dadda to put me to bed. But this is the military life. Luckily we are only in the Reserves and yet sometimes I think that is a little harder just in the terms of Active duty comes home almost every night as long as they are not deployed somewhere or have duty where Reserves are gone a whole weekend at at time and sometimes even long 4 day weekends plus then sometimes up to a month for training a year for AT. It is a hard thing to go through but we do it. And sometimes a day goes so south that you feel like your head is spinning and their is no relief until all the children are in bed and at that point you break down and cry and go to sleep and wake up and do it again. A good example of this was My Wednesday.

Okay back from that side note. After lunch we packed up the boys and went bowling It took us 2 hours for 2 games.. The first game we had Isaac, Dadda, Noah and momma as the line up but on the second game we took ourselves out and put Isaac and Noah only. Talk about fun trying to juggle the baby while helping the big guys and trying to get them to realize that other people need to go to.. lol Luckily I have a summer of free games to work with them. We have a program here that Kids bowl free 2 free games a day during the m-f for the whole summer and for $20 you can add on 4 adults to the family pass so I think I am going to try to start taking them more during the day or after dinner with Nick they really enjoy bowling.. After bowling we headed home and I made Tator tot casserole for dinner and made Avacado-nectarine baby food (2 full ice cube trays for the freezer) I also packed up all the goodies for Nick and Sanders to take back with him while Nick napped. We had dinner then after dinner we watched The Chipmunks the Squeakwel. Nick stayed to help put all 3 boys to bed and then headed out at 9:30 back to the reserve unit so he probably got back around midnight or so. So all in all a great day the boys had a blast visiting with their dad and we talked with Isaac and Noah and told them that Daddy was going to be gone again for little over a week again that it would be the same time frame that they have just went through. Hopefully this plus Nick calling each night right before bed will help. Also Isaac is going to go visit with my mom Tuesday Night through Friday morning so he will get to go have fun with Oma and it will just be Noah and I. I am going to try to get Noah in to the Allergist during that time to see about getting a blood test done for food allergies so we can avoid them to help with his Eczema. Well Lazy day today might just play around the house or go to the mall and play on the indoor play center. It is too rainy to go to the zoo like I wanted might have to wait till Monday for that.
